We Are Seeds
View the Gallery
In a predominately white floral industry...who really gets their flowers? Who works the fields? Who owns the land? Who collects the harvest? Who reaps the benefits? Who hand-packages roses by the millions? Who hand-arranges the roses and makes the millions? Who can afford to smell the roses?
These are questions we have grappled with since beginning our floral journey, and we've committed ourselves to finding creative ways to make floral accessible to our community.
They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds. This proverb has resurfaced in recent times amidst social unrest, ICE raids, family separations and while our children remain caged at the border. The resiliency of our people is innate, but the feeling of “otherness” does not easily subside.
The We Are Seeds collection is a story of triumph. A reminder to grow under any circumstances, to reap the benefits of your own harvest and to give yourself your flowers.

Thrifted

“We could all probably go for some precedented times right about now…”
When thinking about this shoot a lot of what comes to mind is the desire to “comment on the times”. How has this age of quarantine
made you feel? How does consumerism come into play? Are we more economical? Death to fast fashion! Ignorance really feels like bliss and we could all probably go for some precedented times right
about now. During these past 7 months I find myself missing “the old days”. Very reminiscent of an early 90’s childhood - complete oblivion to what the world would be like in 2020. VHS, 90’s hip hop, alternative music, some no doubt on the stereo, vases of flowers in my kitchen, watching the clouds passing, sunsets, sweater weather, hand-me-downs, throwback vintage shirts...have you guys ever watched the movie “boyhood”? I hope to bring that to this shoot.
Vintage clothes, loose fits, fanny packs, grainy pictures, VHS footage. The title of the shoot, “Thrifted.”, feels appropriate an extends past just clothing- it’s being mindful when spending during an economic crisis, being intentional and responsible with consumerism.
The team involved has been asked to consider this as an occasion for self-reflection and expression through their personal contribution to the shoot. This is the third collaborative project of an ongoing series of cool kids doing whatever the fuck they want to express themselves creatively.
Ultimately this shoot is intended to provide the team with local connections. The homies all reside in the DMV, allowing this shoot to be a platform for talent and business exposure.

“WHAT DOES BLUE MEAN TO YOU?”
This styled shoot is inspired by the PANTONE color of the year for 2020. The concept is coupled with the question, “what does blue mean to you?” The team involved has been asked to consider this as an occasion for self-reflection and expression through their personal contribution to the shoot.
This is a second collaborative project of an ongoing serie encouraging kids of immigrants to continue the pursuit of creative avenues and contribution to culture. We are the generation with dreams that will outlast the struggle of survival.
Ultimately this shoot is intended to provide the team with local connections. The homies all reside in the DMV, allowing this shoot to be a platform for talent and business exposure.
